Vehicles Department

Our principal export is authenticity

This department is responsible for ensuring that vehicles are constructed and maintained properly for safe operation on the Information Highway, and particularly that such vehicles may be used to safely bring their operators to InDoor space. In fulfilling this mandate, the Department of Vehicle Regulation and Inspection applies the principles and standards set forth in the Instigation called the Private Key Infrastructure™

Vehicle Inspection

All computer vehicles travelling to and within Osmio via IP roadways must bear a valid inspection certificate that is digitally signed by an officer of this department. Vehicle inspection certificates are valid for a period of one year after inspection; however, if an officer has probable cause to suspect the presence of certain forms of malware in your vehicle that has been cited by this department, a mandatory re-inspection may be made at any time, with your notice and consent.

This department is responsible for ensuring that vehicles are constructed safely to be operated on the Information Highway, and particularly that such vehicles may be used to safely bring their operators to indoor space. In fulfilling this mandate, the Department of Vehicle Inspection and Registration applies the principles and standards set forth in the QEI Instigation called the Private Key Infrastructure.

NOTE
Your computer vehicle does not have a valid inspection certificate. Click below to have your vehicle inspected for the presence of proscribed malware. If your vehicle is registered there is no charge for the inspection, which usually takes between ten minutes and an hour.

Vehicle Registration

All computer vehicles travelling to and within Osmio via IP roadways must be registered to an individual who carries a valid identity credential of strength I5 or better (such as Val-ID 5). Registration means taking responsibility for the actions of all operators of that vehicle while on the public and private roadways of the City-State of Osmio.

Vehicle Operator Licensing

As with the early days of the automobile, licenses are not required of drivers of vehicles on the Information Highway. However, certain prerogatives are reserved for those who do hold licenses that are issued by duly constituted public authority. Among those prerogatives is the right to install self-signed certificates in a vehicle so that those certificates may be treated as certification authority roots.
